2011 Dave Ward Memorial Lecture Award
Presented to Jeb Orr

2011 Ward Award Recipient Jeb Orr with Joanne Ward (Dave Ward's widow)

The inaugural 2011 Dave Ward Memorial Lecture Award was presented to Mr. Jeb Orr on Oct. 12, 2011 at the ACGSC Meeting 108 in Gettysburg, PA.

Mr. Orr received the award for his excellent contributions to development of flight dynamics models for launch vehicle control design which have found valuable application in NASA studies for design of future manned space launch systems.

Mr. Orr is a flight controls engineer with Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) in Huntsville, AL. He has been with SAIC since 2008, working in support of the Control Systems Design and Analysis Branch at Marshall Space Flight Center. Prior to his current position, Mr. Orr worked as a design engineer for ADTRAN, Inc. in Huntsville, AL, where he authored algorithms and software for embedded telecommunications products. Mr. Orr earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees in Computer Engineering and Electrical Engineering (Controls major), respectively, from the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate at this university. His research focuses on the development of efficient dynamic models for flexible launch vehicles and the design of control allocation algorithms for dynamical systems with complex, time-varying constraints.
