AbstractEclipse Aviation, the company that defined the very light jet segment and the concept of air taxi operations has turned the general aviation world upside down with its revolutionary Eclipse 500. Ken Harness, Eclipse’s Vice President of Engineering will present how the company was purpose-built around the concept of a total redefinition of the value proposition in the twin turbofan segment. Specific topics will include an overview of the company behind the aircraft, and a discussion of the Eclipse 500 aircraft including design features, leading technology application such as friction stir welding and PhostrEx fire suppression systems, as well as a discussion of the flight test tools used to develop and certify this remarkable aircraft.
