AbstractBoeing recently completed their first launch and autonomous docking of the Starliner to the International Space Station paving the way for a crewed flight later this early or early 2023. This mission satisfied a significant part of the Flight Test Objective goals with the remainder to be completed with NASA astronauts on board the next mission. One of the most significant objectives was the demonstration of our relative navigation sensors and system. While on-board navigation states of the ISS (the target) and the Starliner (the chaser) are propagated and updated by the ground control team when needed, this accuracy is insufficient for the precision task of docking within very specific parameters of offset and velocity (Approximately 5 cm and 5 cm/sec respectively). For this purpose, on-board sensors which are LADAR, vision, and IR based, track ISS features to create a very accurate relative navigation state between the two spacecraft. This discussion will focus on the significant outcomes of the Orbital Flight Test 2 including launch, rendezvous & docking, and re-entry and landing, including a brief summary of the anomalies experienced.
