AbstractNASA Aeronautics Research Mission Directorate plans to restructure the aeronautics research program starting in FY15. This presentation provides an overview of the proposed program structure. The restructuring is driven by need to focus on 6 Strategic Thrusts - 1) Safe, efficient growth in global operations; 2) Innovation in commercial supersonic transport; 3) Ultra-efficient commercial vehicles; 4) Transition to low carbon propulsion; 5) Real-time system-wide safety assurance; and 6) Assured autonomy for aviation transformation. The structure consists of 4 programs - 3 Mission programs and 1 Seedling program. The Mission programs are: Airspace Operations and Safety Program; Advanced Air Vehicles Program; and Integrated Aviation Systems Progrma. The Seedling program is the Transformative Aeronautics Concepts Program. Each of these program consists of 3-4 projects which focus on one or strategic thrusts.
