AbstractThere are considered some areas of the update research activities of pilot vehicle lab PVL (Moscow aviation institute) in manual control area. One of them is the modification of structural and optimal pilot model allowed to estimate the influence of controlled element gain coefficient and demands to the accuracy of the piloting on the pilot and pilot-vehicle system response characteristics. The comparison of the results of mathematical modeling and experiments demonstrated the effectiveness of the proposed modification.

The other research was dedicated to the modification of the several criteria (time delay-bandwidth criteria, Gibson criteria, MAI criteria and pitch rate response criteria).

The modification is based on procedure for the preliminary selection of the dynamics configuration from the data bases according to the proposed rules. The modified boundaries of criteria allowed to improve the potentiality of criteria to predict the flying qualities levels significantly.

The next area of PVL activity is the development of simulators and computer generated visual systems. Several examples of successful work in this area are considered. The potentiality of one of the developed simulators with stereoscopic visual system is discussed too. The application of pilot-vehicle system approach to flight control system and display design in some space mission tasks (docking with ISS, landing on the Moon) is considered in presentation.
